Forever Still is a heavy rock band from Denmark.
That comes from their own description, but I
appreciate it. There are trappings of hard rock and heavy metal, and they could
pass for Goth, but there is an emphasis on melody and emotion that does not fit
neatly into any of them. They have the ability to go in that direction -
vocalist Maja Shining can growl-shout with the best of them - but they often
choose to do other things.
This comes from the band's own decision to be completely
honest and emotional. That content may include anger and aggression, but they
also include depression and anxiety, and perseverance and recovery.
Having recently reviewed a musician who seemed to be
aiming for this but failed, this was a nice reminder of what could have been.
Forever Still starts touring with Lacuna Coil in two
weeks.
