Listening to The Phonographs reminded me most of
listening to early Beatles.
Not all of their songs sound like that, though
"Number One Fan" is a good example of one that does. Overall, there
is a devotion to rock from before it was even classic rock.
My favorite track was probably "I'm On You
(You're My Drug)". The title implies an unhealthy relationship, but the
song is quite lovely, with some unusual percussion choices.
The Phonographs are a four-member band from Woodstock, Illinois. That may not be the Woodstock that we associate
with peace and love, but it still seems to fit.
