Band Review: Breakaway

I guess I've been hearing a lot of power chords lately, because something that really stood out to me with Breakaway is their use of simple, higher melodies. The intros to "At The World's End" and "The Bitter Truth" are good examples. It's not all they do, but it was refreshing.

Their overall sound is very earnest, more pleading than angry, so with that they do fit well within pop, but leaning more toward the rock side.

At this point they are still a fairly new band, with five songs available on one EP, One Minute | One Moment, but they are working on their debut album and it sounds like they are gaining some good experience. They're doing all right.

With the EP available as a free download from their web site, and the songs also readily available as a Youtube playlist, there is no reason not to check them out.
